Woman charged with animal cruelty in case involving 145 animals

ORANGE COVE, Caif. (FOX26 NEWS) — The Central California SPCA says a woman has been officially charged with animal cruelty in case where 145 animals (142 dogs and 3 cats) were seized from a "no-kill" rescue in Orange Cove.

 

SPCA officials say Mary Kay Nelson is now facing six charges of animal cruelty after officers found several animals suffering from a variety of medical conditions at Noah's Friends Animal Sanctuary in 2016.

 

Officers say many of the dogs were in extremely emaciated with parasites, as well as other diseases. The dogs
