A passionate advocate for California's animals, Melanie has played a leading role in advancing state animal welfare legislation and public policy. She has served as President of the California Animal Welfare Association (CalAnimals), currently chairs its Legislative & Advocacy Committee, and has helped lead statewide efforts to strengthen animal welfare laws, improve shelter operations, expand access to veterinary care, and foster collaboration across the animal welfare community.
Melanie is known for bringing together diverse stakeholders to solve complex challenges, combining strategic leadership with a collaborative approach that strengthens organizations and improves outcomes for both animals and the people who care for them. She was recognized with the Tri-Valley Hero Award for Community Spirit for her dedication to serving her community.
