Thieves Burglarize Shop That Provides Animal Shelter Funds

Officials said thousands of dollars of donated watches, jewelry, and other valuable items were taken. The store is in need of donations.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A charity shop that provides funds to support the support services and programs of the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter was burglarized last weekend, county officials said. The thieves who targeted the Benefit Shop Sunday night stole thousands of dollars of donated watches, jewelry and other valuable items.

County officials are asking for the public's help to replace some of the items taken during the burglary. All donations are tax-deductible and can be brought to the Benefit Shop, which is located at 2260 7th Ave.in Santa Cruz. They accept the donations Thursday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those interested in volunteering at the shop can contact Leila Dunn leila.redhen@gmail.com or 831-246-3870.
